About the plan

The Michiana Area Council of Governments (MACOG) is committed to enhancing transportation safety throughout the region. In 2023, MACOG secured a federal Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) grant to create a Regional Transportation Safety Action Plan. This plan is a collaborative endeavor driven by community input, aiming to shape transportation policies, visions, and practices across various communities in the region. It fosters cooperation among local agencies to tackle transportation safety concerns within St. Joseph, Elkhart, Marshall, and Kosciusko Counties. The objective behind the creation of this plan is to establish a safe and forward-looking transportation infrastructure that caters to the needs of a vibrant Northern Indiana area. With the completion of the regional safety action plan, local governments become eligible for implementation grants under the Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) program.
